Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
As Island Health’s Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Kim oversees all financial operations within the organization. This includes strategic and operational management in the areas of Care Sustainability, Financial Planning and Business Support, Contract Management, Capital Finance and Planning, and Facilities Management. Kim leads the health emergency management program at Island Health working in close collaboration with Health Emergency Management BC. She also provides leadership in the development of new service delivery models to support effective and efficient operations and encourages the innovative use of technology to improve business processes.
Kim manages Island Health’s $4.6 billion operating budget and has primary responsibility for creating a culture of accountability in the organization. As part of supporting the strategic priorities of the Ministry of Health, Kim is advancing Island Health’s relationships with external providers with new approaches for innovative partnerships and business models with private sector organizations.
Kim has over 20 years of experience as a leader in health-care as well as experience in strategic consulting with Deloitte and the corporate oil and gas sector in Calgary. Before joining Island Health, Kim served as the Director of Finance with the Calgary Health Region, where she was responsible for all budget planning, business analysis and financial arrangements with contracted health providers. She served as CFO for the Calgary-based company AgeCare with interests in long-term care, assisted living and construction and development.
Kim holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (with Honours) from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
