Vice President, Communications, Partnerships and Primary Care Strategy
As the Vice President of Communications, Partnerships and Primary Care Strategy, Jamie serves as a key strategist working closely with senior leadership and partners to identify communications and engagement opportunities and risks, and provide strategic direction on all matters that impact corporate reputation within the health sector and in the public sphere. He also advises the executive team and board of directors on the advancement of strategic partnerships at the organization-level and with communities and community organizations to promote health and wellness, in addition to leading health authority programming with hospital and health care foundations, auxiliaries and volunteers.
Jamie provides organizational leadership for implementation of primary care strategy, collaborating with external and internal partners, within the context of the larger Ministry of Health strategy. He also leads the health emergency management program at Island Health, ensuring the health authority is positioned and prepared to mitigate, prepare for and effectively respond to and recover from the impacts of emergency events; ensuring the continuity of health services.
Prior to joining Island Health as Vice President in 2017, Jamie served as the Vice President, Communications & Public Engagement, and Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the President & CEO at Interior Health. He also previously worked in the Legislative Assembly, including 10 years as chief of staff to cabinet ministers — including successive Ministers of Health.
Jamie holds a Masters of Arts in Leadership (Health Specialization) from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Victoria.
