Krista Allan

As Vice President of Quality, Research and Chief Nursing and Allied Health Officer, Krista Allan is the co-lead responsible for Clinical Governance, including quality-related structures and processes governing the delivery of health and care services. This includes quality improvement, patient safety, patient engagement and experience, accreditation, ethics and research. She works closely with the executive team to enhance the integration, transparency and accountability of Island Health’s performance and organizational governance structure. Krista provides leadership for Nursing and Allied Health strategy, professional practice, Nurse Practitioners, clinical learning, simulation and research.

Throughout her career as a nurse and leader, Krista has gained a deep understanding of the critical role of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of care in a variety of settings in rural, remote and urban areas. She has worked with partners in research, academia and regulation. Prior to joining Island Health, Krista was the Chief Health Operations Officer at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in charge of hospitals and acute care services, where she was a key leader in advancing system transformation.  

Krista is proud to be Metis and grew up in Manitoba, Treaty 1 territory and the homeland of the Red River Metis Nation. She now resides in the traditional territory of the Malahat Nation.
