Joanna Gislason

Joanna (Jo) Gislason is a leadership advisor and lawyer specializing in the areas of labour relations, human rights law, administrative fairness and transformative and restorative justice. She has represented clients at forums ranging from labour boards to the Supreme Court of Canada.

She is a trusted confidential senior advisor and strategist to leaders and organizations dedicated to building a healthier and more just world. Her service is grounded in deep respect for good people doing good work and an unwavering commitment to equity, dignity and justice.

After ten years as managing partner of a boutique law firm in Vancouver, she founded her leadership consultancy in Victoria. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in organizational psychology and cultural studies, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Victoria, and a Master of Laws in administrative and constitutional law from Osgoode Law School, along with certifications in mediation, leadership coaching, zen chaplaincy and restorative justice.

She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.

Joanna was first appointed to the Board of Island Health on May 11, 2025.  Her current term expires on April 30, 2026.
