Overdose Prevention

A significant increase in drug-related overdoses & deaths across B.C. prompted Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall to declare a public health emergency April 2016.

​The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is alerting British Columbians to discard or return to the place of purchase any Little Qualicum Cheeseworks’ Qualicum Spice cheese that they currently have at home.

These are extremely toxic mushrooms that can cause severe illness and may be lethal if ingested by people and especially children. They can be found in various environments around Greater Victoria, and are also dangerous to pets.

Community Wellness Granting Program

People on Vancouver Island will benefit from up to $800,000 in community wellness grants that are being provided by Island Health to improve the health and well-being of Island residents.
