Building Description

Eagle Ridge Manor is a one -evel building adjacent to Port Hardy Hospital. There are 21 single-occupancy rooms with their own overhead lift, private bathroom with sink and toilet, on one floor. The Manor has a fenced outdoor courtyard and covered patio.

Building Amenities

The Manor’s dining room looks out onto the courtyard and is open to the large common area. The outdoor courtyard features a circular, paved walking path through a landscaped garden. Park benches and a Gazebo are features in the courtyard. When Eagle Ridge Manor was expanded in 2009 an additional meeting room was included. This is a shared space with local First Nations. The room can be used for private family functions for residents and their families.  

Neighbourhood/Community Amenities

Port Hardy Seniors Centre, located adjacent to the Port Hardy Hospital, holds weekly activities such as bingo. Port Hardy has an indoor swimming pool.

Language, Culture or Religious Affiliation

While there is no religious affiliation, there are several religious denominations in Port Hardy. Eagle Ridge Manor maintains close ties with the three local Indigenous communities surrounding Port Hardy and are sensitive to the needs of First Nations residents.

Model of Medical Care/Physician Organization
Any resident GP may continue caring for the residents upon admission. If the GP chooses not to follow the resident to facility they will be assigned to one of five facility physicians who frequently attend the site and our residents monthly or every two months.

Special Recreational Opportunities

The Manor has an activity worker onsite five-days a week.  Activities include story time, current affairs, mental aerobics, group exercises, bingo, puzzles, board and card games and special outings. Seasonal activities include ocean days and Christmas light tours.

Pets are not permitted to live in Eagle Ridge Manor.  Visiting pets are welcome and must be leashed at all times, have current vaccinations and be well mannered.  No pets are permitted in any area were food is prepared or served.

Smoking Policy

As a health care provider, Island Health has an obligation to promote good health practices. We are committed to ensuring a safe, healthy and clean environment for everyone. Smoking and vaping is not permitted on any Island Health property. This includes all buildings, grounds and parking lots.

Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution."
