Building Description
Ocean Front Village is a vibrant seniors community located along the Courtenay Riverway Heritage Walk. The Village features thoughtfully designed care neighbourhoods consisting of 6 to 28 private suites, each centered around shared dining, living, and activity spaces. Every neighbourhood includes access to secure outdoor courtyards and is designed to foster comfort, connection, and flexible care delivery.
Main Street connects the long-term care neighbourhoods to the independent living side of the building, creating a seamless community experience. This welcoming indoor hub includes a licensed café/pub with ocean views, a fitness and rehabilitation room, salon, education space, and the Comox Valley Hospice Society offices. Natural light, quiet
lounges, and safe wandering loops support resident wellness, independence, and a strong sense of home.

Each care neighbourhood opens onto secure outdoor courtyards featuring continuous walking loops, calming gardens, and discreet safety features that encourage safe, independent access to fresh air and nature.
Main Street serves as the heart of the Village. This central indoor space brings residents together through a variety of shared amenities, including a full-service hair salon, a licensed café/pub with ocean views, a fitness and rehabilitation room, and a multipurpose education space. Quiet lounges and inviting activity rooms are located throughout the building to support personal interests and social interaction.
All amenities are designed to be accessible, familiar, and resident focused—supporting individual routines, encouraging mobility, and creating opportunities for meaningful connection.

Ocean Front Village is centrally located along the Courtenay Riverway Heritage Walk, just steps from the front entrance. The Village is within walking distance of restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, churches, and parks, with most amenities between 280 and 550 metres away. A BC Transit stop is located only 190 metres from the site, offering convenient access to the wider community. While the Village does not operate a dedicated bus, its location ensures easy, everyday access for residents and visitors.

Residents enjoy private, sunlight-filled suites designed for accessibility and comfort. Each suite includes an ensuite bathroom with built-in storage and a barrier-free shower. Adjoining rooms are available to accommodate couples.
Cost

Special Recreational Opportunities
Ocean Front Village offers a wide variety of recreational activities designed to support active, engaged living. Residents can participate in group fitness classes, walking clubs, stretching sessions, and wellness programs adapted to all levels of mobility. Secure outdoor courtyards and access to the Riverway Trail provide opportunities for fresh air and gentle movement.
The Village’s therapeutic recreation program focuses on enhancing residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being through personalized, meaningful engagement. Daily programming includes music therapy, baking, arts and crafts, spiritual gatherings, games, and themed events.
Recreation is available seven days a week, with both daytime and evening options. Family involvement and visits from local organizations add to the inclusive and socially enriching atmosphere, helping residents feel connected, purposeful, and at home.
Accessibility
All long-term care suites at Ocean Front Village are fully wheelchair and electric wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms include slip-resistant, lip-free showers with grab bars, accessible vanities, and lockable storage. Suite entrances feature 36-inch doors with optional emergency side panels to accommodate larger equipment. The building is designed with barrier-free access throughout, including wide corridors, elevators, accessible outdoor courtyards, and mobility-friendly flooring. Fixtures, switches, and handles are thoughtfully positioned to support independence and ease of use for residents with varying physical abilities.
Motorized Scooter Policy
Motorized scooters and power wheelchairs are welcome at Ocean Front Village following a safety assessment by an occupational therapist. Approved devices must be operated with care and stored in designated areas to ensure accessibility and clear pathways. Our team works closely with residents to support safe, independent mobility throughout the Village.
Pet Policy
Ocean Front Village supports pet-friendly visitation and recognizes the therapeutic value of animals in residents’ lives. Pets are welcome to visit in accordance with health and safety guidelines. Visits may be coordinated with staff to ensure comfort and safety for all residents.
Safety/Security Features
Ocean Front Village is designed to ensure safety while supporting resident independence. Neighborhoods include secure wandering loops, camouflaged exit doors with mag locks, and discreet monitoring systems. Nurse stations are centrally located with clear sightlines to interior and outdoor spaces. Outdoor areas are fully enclosed with non-climbable fencing, and passive security features are integrated into the environment to avoid a clinical feel. Our approach balances freedom of movement with peace of mind for residents, families, and staff.

Ocean Front Village offers several additional amenities to enhance resident comfort and convenience, including in-room cable and internet access, and on-site laundry services. Residents can enjoy access to a cozy bistro lounge, library spaces, and a private family dining room for special gatherings.
