Philosophy of Care

As per Island Health Vision, Purpose and Values

Wellness Model: a model of care that involves the resident/family in the care planning of each resident where the goal is to maintain the "best day possible" every day for every resident.

Model of Medical Care/Physician Organization
This facility operates a TORCH (Towards Optimal Residential Care Health) Model / Residential Care Initiative (RCI) model for medical care. Residents are assigned to a physician who attends the facility weekly and works in a shared care model, working closely with other TORCH / RCI physicians and facility health care staff.

Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)
MAiD is available at Island Health-owned and operated sites and this affiliate site. This facility supports full assessment/planning and on the day of the procedure the Resident is transferred to an Island Health owned/operated facility which provides the MAiD procedure.  Read more detailed information on MAiD, including a guide for patients and families and a link to information provided by the federal government.
