Building Description
This care home is nestled amongst trees, grass and gardens. All resident rooms, lounges, activity areas, dining/resident kitchens areas and library are located on the main floor. All resident rooms are private and include a two-piece ensuite. The nursing station is central to the Village's three wings.
Building Amenities
Features of the building include a large central dining and activity room, smaller lounge/TV areas, library, hair salon, fenced courtyards and walking paths. The Village offers on-site laundry for personal items, music therapy, limited access to occupational therapy/dietitian/dental hygienist/foot care nurse, volunteer and medical lab support.
Facility-Specific Restrictions
In respect to perfumes and deodorants, Echo Village upholds a scent-free policy for residents, employees and volunteers. The home also has a least-restraint policy in the use of physical and chemical restraints on its residents.
Neighbourhood/Community Amenities
Situated close to the public recreation centre with fully accessible pool/fitness room, library and museum, high school and elementary school. Located on a local transit route. Full services such as restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, banking and walking trails are only minutes away.

The Village has a holistic approach in providing care which supports chronic and complex conditions. We believe all care provided encompasses a gentle, respectful, ethical, supportive and professional approach. We embrace each person - resident, family member, staff member and volunteer as an integral part of our community.
Type of Accommodation
Echo Village has 68 individual rooms. Although each resident is encouraged to personalize his/her own room, each room is outfitted with a bed, bedding, dresser, night table, lamp, and a private two-piece ensuite bathroom. There is an option to have access to TV, telephone and Internet, but the resident is responsible for all associated set-up and costs.
Cost
Residents pay up to 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.
Special Recreational Opportunities
A fully staffed Programming Department which operates seven days a week, usually providing activities between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Programs cater to the physical, social, cognitive, creative, emotional and spiritual needs of residents. The activities are entertainment based or therapeutic based, and can engage a single individual, a small group or a large group of residents. Echo Village operates a bus, so many outings into the community are offered throughout the week. The activities are well supported by a large volunteer base.
Accessibility
All living and community spaces within the Village are located on the main floor and are fully accessible by wheelchair/walker. All courtyard areas are fully accessible.
Motorized Scooter Policy
Motorized scooters are permitted in the building providing that approval has been granted by the home's occupational therapist.
Pet Policy
Pets are not permitted to live in the Village, however scheduled pet visits and drop-ins are welcome as long as the pet is healthy, vaccines are current and the pet is well mannered. Pets cannot be left unattended and cannot go into any food areas.
Safety/Security Features
The Village has implemented an 'Elopement Management System' which includes two coded keypad doors at the main entrance, a resident elopement alert system (door alarms triggered when worn co-tag breaches any door), bed and chair monitors, extensive fire/smoke alarm system as well as fenced courtyards.

Entrance doors are locked between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. If you find yourself visiting during this time frame, you will need to buzz in.
