McCauley Lodge is a 30-unit licensed care facility in Greater Victoria that provides services for adults with serious and persistent mental health conditions. McCauley Lodge is staffed for 24/7 care with mental health workers and clinical staff.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individuals are 36 years or older and require 24-hour care.
  • The primary care need is related to a diagnosis of severe and ongoing mental illness.
  • All substance use, including alcohol and cannabis, is discouraged and substances are not permitted on site.
  • Clients must be willing to actively participate in rehabilitation and recovery plans.

  • A clinician referral is required to access this program. 
  • If you or someone you care for are connected to a Mental Health and Substance Use team at Island Health, please ask about referral to this program. 
  • Your referring clinician and MHSU team will advise on the care option most suited to your needs.
Cost

Clients pay a per-diem (daily fee). The fee is determined based on client income.

Details

McCauley Lodge is located in Esquimalt and has 30 units located on three floors (10 rooms per floor). There is also a basement and elevator access to each level in the building. All bedrooms are private and each floor has four shared resident bathrooms plus a staff bathroom. One bathroom has a wheelchair accessible shower. The bedrooms have a closet with a locking safe, a bed, a stand-up dresser, a desk and bedside table.

There is no storage space. Clients may bring their own television, computer, small items, pillows and bed linens. Installing a private telephone line and/or having a cell phone is allowed.

Each floor has a common area including dining area and living room for residents. There is also an activity room, garden and small yard. A resident phone line is provided for local calls.
