Same-day (primary) care

Last updated: September 23rd, 2026 at 3:17pm

Get care for health concerns that need attention within 12 to 24 hours. Appointments are required. Find an Urgent and Primary Care Centre near you and call to book.

When you may need this service

  • You need care soon, but it is not an emergency
  • You feel sick or have non-life-threatening pain
  • You have a minor injury, such as a cut or sprain
  • You need mental health support
  • You need a prescription refill or follow-up care

How to access care

  1. Call your family doctor or nurse practitioner first.
  2. If you do not have one or they are unavailable, call an Urgent and Primary Care Centre. Tell us about your health concern. A team member will assess your needs. You may receive a same-day or next-day appointment, or be directed to another service. Calling does not guarantee an appointment.

Central or North Island: Call when the clinic opens.

South Island: Call during opening hours.
