Get a flu vaccine to help protect yourself and others from getting sick.
When to choose
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older.
It is strongly recommended for:
- Children 6 months to 5 years old
- Adults 65 years and older
- Pregnant people
- People with certain health conditions or weakened immune systems
- First Nations, Métis and Inuit people
- People who live with or care for someone at higher risk of serious illness
- Health care workers and others who provide essential community services

How to get your flu vaccine
Everyone 6 months and older can get a flu vaccine for free.
- Check your registration. Make sure you are registered in the Get Vaccinated system.
- Register if needed. Add your contact and eligibility information.
- Wait for an invitation. You will get an invitation when you can book your vaccine.
- Book an appointment. Choose a location, date and time that work for you.
- Get vaccinated. Go to your appointment and bring your BC Services Card or photo ID.
No appointments available? Check again later.
You may also be able to get your flu vaccine from your primary care provider or another vaccine provider. Contact them to ask.
If you cannot leave your home
If you are homebound, you may be able to get your flu vaccine at home. Call your community health services office or the community access line for help.

What to expect
Before you go
- Wear clothing that makes it easy to access your upper arm, such as a short-sleeve or loose-fitting top.
- Bring your BC Services Card or photo ID.
When you get your vaccine
- A pharmacist or nurse will ask a few quick health questions.
- Plan to stay up to 15 minutes after, just to be safe.
After your vaccine
- Your arm may feel sore.
- You may also feel tired or have a mild fever for a day or two.
- Move your arm and use a cool cloth to help with soreness.
- Most people feel fine the next day.
