Access to subsidized residential care is coordinated by Island Health staff.

Rest Haven Lodge is a welcoming three-storey building, situated in a pleasant neighborhood near the seaside in Sidney, about a 30-minute drive outside of Victoria. The building has two resident living floors, each with a small dining room and lounge, with a large main dining room, gardens, and activity space on the main level.

Rest Haven Lodge offers 73 private, furnished rooms. Residents may bring personal items to help make their room feel like home. The rooms include a small bathroom (toilet and sink), hospital style bed, bedside table, desk, and a chair. A cable TV outlet, phone jack, and call bell system are also installed in each room. Rooms on the third floor are equipped with overhead ceiling lifts.
Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income up to a maximum rate. This covers the cost of food, cleaning, laundry, accommodation, and subsidized care. For more information on monthly cost and additional expenses, please see the Resident and Family Handbook and reach out to Rest Haven Lodge.

Rest Haven Lodge is completely wheelchair accessible, with automatic door openers and elevator access. Outdoor areas, including courtyards and gardens, are also wheelchair accessible.
Rest Haven Lodge is unable to support motorized scooters/wheelchairs.
While pets are not permitted to live at the Home, Broadmead Care welcomes visiting pets and recognizes the importance and value that pets have for many people. All visiting pets must be leashed at all times, have current vaccinations, and be well mannered. Pets are not allowed in any area where food is prepared or served. Broadmead Care has a number of Pet Therapy Volunteers who visit with their pets.
Residents may smoke in designated outside areas only. Smoking within the building is strictly prohibited.
For everyone’s safety, resident smoking is monitored and controlled. If a resident smokes in non-designated areas or in an unsafe manner, their smoking materials will be retained and managed by staff. If a resident has repeated incidents of unsafe smoking, he or she will not be permitted to continue smoking on the grounds of the Care Home.
Assistance with smoking cessation will be offered. In response to regulations and policies from the Provincial Tobacco Control Regulations and Island Health, staff, volunteers, and visitors are not allowed to smoke on any Broadmead Care property.

- Regular fire inspections and drills
- Fire sprinklers
- Doors secured with magnetic release buttons/keypads
- Video monitoring
- Secured entrances
- Personal wander alarms
We support people to maintain their spiritual connections and are happy to help them stay connected with their church, faith tradition, or spiritual support group.
Broadmead Care has a Spiritual Coordinator available to assist residents and staff, and to host special multi-denominational services throughout the year.
Rest Haven Lodge is one of five care homes in the South Island owned and operated by Broadmead Care. Our goal is to create a homelike environment for people and their families, with experiences and activities that honour their life history, support their abilities, and maintain their dignity.
Rest Haven Lodge is a beautiful building designed to give residents access to safe spaces and secure gardens with plenty of natural light. Amenities at Rest Haven Lodge include: creative arts, music therapy, hairdressing services, volunteer services, and adult day programs. Fundraising at Rest Haven Lodge, a Broadmead Care Home, provides enhanced programs and services to open the door for extraordinary relationships to flourish.
Limited street parking is available for no charge.
As this is the residents’ home, visiting hours are open to family and friends. Rest Haven Lodge welcomes visitors at any time, based on the conditions, care needs, and expressed wishes of the residents. If the front entrance is locked, please ring the intercom to be let in. You are asked to sign our guest logbook when you visit.

During viral respiratory illness season (typically December - March), we follow the Provincial Health Officer’s direction to help protect residents from respiratory illness.
Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”
