Regional Treatment Beds Program

Island Health operates or funds substance use treatment beds for adults to support withdrawal management (detox), treatment and supportive recovery. Subsidized treatment beds are available at the following sites:

Access to treatment beds  
  • Referral from a health care provider is required.
  • Health care professionals must complete a standardized referral package with the client and email completed packages to treatmentcentres@islandhealth.ca
  • The regional triage committee reviews applications for eligibility and priority. Program staff confirm acceptance or declination with the referring health care professional.
Eligibility

Individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Diagnosed Substance Use Disorder in the moderate to severe range.
  • Willing to engage in abstinence-based residential treatment.
  • Previously unsuccessful in maintaining abstinence with lower or other levels of care.
  • Not experiencing psychotic symptoms, except in the context of intoxication or withdrawal.
  • Reside within the Island Health region.
