Call to talk with a health care team about your drug or alcohol use. They will listen, help you make a plan, and connect you to services like withdrawal management (detox), counselling, or treatment programs. You don’t need to know what service you need before you call.

- You want to cut down, use more safely, or stop using alcohol or drugs
- You are worried about how alcohol or drugs are affecting your life, work, or relationships
- You want help managing withdrawal symptoms
- You want to know what treatment options are available on Vancouver Island
- You are supporting a friend or family member and don’t know where to start.

- You are looking for help with substance use for yourself
- You are a friend or family member looking for information or support

What to expect when you call
When you call:
- You will talk to a member of the care team.
- You’ll be asked to answer some questions.
a. What substances you use
b. How often you use them
c. Your health, safety, and supports
d. Any services you have tried before - You'll get a plan that fits you.
Together, you will decide on next steps. This might include:
a. Withdrawal management support
b. Treatment programs (inpatient and outpatient)
c. Medication to help manage cravings or withdrawal symptoms (including opioid agonist treatment)
d. Counselling or group support
e. Harm reduction services - You’ll get connected to resources.
The care team will help connect you to the service that best matches your needs and goals.
You can call back any time if your situation or goals change.
