Built in 2005, Arrowsmith Lodge is home to 75 elders who each enjoy their own room with an ensuite bathroom, many of which have a shower. There are 3 small neighborhoods, each with their own dining room. The building is single level, with three accessible, beautifully landscaped courtyards with vegetables, herbs, water features, and more.
A single level building with air conditioning throughout the common areas. Several common areas and lounges with cable TV, Wi-Fi, and three beautifully landscaped courtyards. Arrowsmith is also home to a few resident cats, fish, birds, and recently hatched some baby chicks!
Arrowsmith offers a campus of care, adjacent to Cokely Manor – an Assisted Living site offering 30 subsidized suites along with an Adult Day Program. Arrowsmith Lodge is centrally located in beautiful Parksville with easy access to shops, beaches, trails, and public transportation. There is a public bus stop directly in front of the property.
Non-denominational. All cultures, religions, and languages are welcome. English is the primary language spoken.
Arrowsmith Lodge delivers person centered care, and creates an environment surrounded by animals, pets, and meaningful activities. We work in the elders’ home, they don’t live in our workplace.
Model of medical care/Physician organization
Arrowsmith Lodge operates a TORCH (Towards Optimal Residential Care Health) Model / Residential Care Initiative (RCI) model for medical care. Residents are assigned to a physician who attends the facility weekly and works in a shared care model, working closely with other TORCH / RCI physicians and facility health care staff.

Three neighbourhoods, one of which is a low stimulation area for elders living with advanced dementia.
Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income up to a maximum rate. This covers the cost of food, cleaning, laundry, accommodation, and subsidized care.

Recreational opportunities include:
- Getting into the community on the Arrowsmith Lodge bus

We are also a Cycling Without Age site where our elders can experience the Tri-Shaw bike.

Arrowsmith Lodge is home to a few resident cats, birds, and fish. Visiting pets are welcome, so long as they are kept on a leash, well behaved, and have up to date vaccines. Pets are not permitted in the dining or food prep areas.
Arrowsmith Lodge is a non-smoking home, including vaping.

During viral respiratory illness season (typically December - March), we follow the Provincial Health Officer’s direction to help protect residents from respiratory illness.
Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”
