If care cannot be accommodated in the home environment, or a client does not desire a home death, Island Health and our partners offer care in Community Hospice beds, or in-patient Palliative Care Units at the following locations:

Specialized Palliative Care Units

South Island

  • 12-bed palliative care unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital
  • 10-bed unit at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital

Central Island

  • 12-bed palliative care unit at Nanaimo Regional Hospital

Community Hospice Beds

South Island

  • Victoria Hospice Unit at Richmond Pavillion Royal Jubilee Hospital site - 18 beds
  • Hospice at Ayre Manor, Sooke - 2 beds

Center Island

  • Cowichan Hospice House at Cairsnmore, Duncan - 7 beds - View guided video tour

  • Ty Watson House, Port Alberni - 4 beds

North Island
