Our Vision and Mission

Our Vision: Healthy and empowered children, youth and families actively participating in their communities

Our Mission: We will use a collaborative, family-centred and interdisciplinary approach to optimize health and autonomy and promote inclusive communities

Where we provide services

We provide service in a variety of settings: at school, at home, in the community or at the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children’s Health.

This is made possible through contracts with the Victoria, Sooke and Saanich School Districts and some private/independent schools, and through funding from the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

About our services

Occupational Therapists (OT)

Support students, working with school personnel and families, in achieving the student’s functional goals in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

School based Physiotherapists (PT)

Support students, staff and families to enable the student to achieve optimal mobility and participation at home, school, and in the community. PTs evaluate how a student’s ability to function in school is influenced by his/her physical status and by environmental factors at home, school, or in the community.

Service to Private or Independent Schools

Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy can be arranged for students with complex physical challenges depending upon availability of staff. A revenue agreement will be established with the school administrator for services provided.

How to get a Referral

We accept referrals from school-based teams with parent/guardian consent. Please speak with the school teacher or school administrative team to discuss initiating a referral.

What to Expect

The therapy team will learn about your child’s strengths, needs and goals. They will work with your family and school to decide what support may help.

  • Occupational therapy: An occupational therapist can help your child with everyday activities, including self-care, schoolwork, play and leisure.
  • Physiotherapy: A physiotherapist can help your child improve their movement, mobility and participation. They may also look at changes to your child’s surroundings that could make activities easier or safer.
