What to expect before, during, and after visiting a patient.

Special visiting situations
Some care areas may allow different visiting arrangements based on patient needs.

- pediatric care
- other situations where family or support people are part of care
Check with the care area before you visit.
- End-of-life (palliative care)

More visitors may be allowed when a patient is receiving palliative or end-of-life care. The care team will coordinate visiting arrangements based on the patient and family's needs.

-
More than two visitors may be allowed at one time in labour and delivery or pediatric care areas. The care team will work with families to support special circumstances.
Bringing items for a patient
If you plan to bring items for your loved one, please check with the unit first. Only bring essential items, such as:

- cell phone and charger
- items required for care
Other items such as flowers, gifts, blankets, food, or personal belongings may only be allowed if the unit leader approves them as necessary for patient care.

If you are dropping off or picking up someone who has a scheduled appointment, please check in with or front desk when you arrive. They can help direct you to the appropriate location.
If you have any questions about visiting a specific patient or unit, please contact the hospital directly.
