Lower Leg Wound Clinic 

The Royal Jubilee Hospital Lower Leg Wound Clinic is a non-urgent wound care clinic supporting patients experiencing delayed wound healing of the foot or lower leg. The team provides services such as:

  • Nurses with specialized and accredited wound care skills will provide assessment, treatment, and wound care plans for ongoing providers
  • A consultant physiatrist, or in some cases an orthopedic surgeon, will see most patients
  • A pedorthist is available to assist with recommendations for footwear and pressure offloading 

How to get a Referral 

Your Primary Care Provider can refer you to the Lower Leg Wound Clinic by completing our referral form and submitting by fax.

The Royal Jubilee Hospital Lower Leg Wound Clinic is located in Clinic 3, Diagnostic & Treatment (D&T) Centre. Enter the D&T building via the Main Entrance, beside Emergency. Pass the Patient Information Desk, and then turn left down the vaulted corridor of outpatient clinics. Clinic 3 is located on the main level. Use the Lower Leg Wound Clinic patient check-in phone when you arrive for your appointment. This phone is mounted on the wall across from Clinic 3.

Tuesday: 8:00am-3:00pm

Wednesday: 8:00am-3:00pm 

Thursday: 8:00am-3:00pm 

Closed on statutory holidays 

Preparing for Your Visit
  • Expect to spend approximately 1 hour at the clinic.  Please arrange parking accordingly.  Parking is limited at the site; allow extra time to navigate this. 
  • Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring any compression garments or footwear you would like reviewed. 
  • X-rays or additional diagnostic testing may occur. 
  • Please bring a current medication list. 
  • A medical student or resident may participate in your appointment. 
  • If you require extra assistance to ambulate, change clothes and/or for toileting, please ensure that a caregiver accompanies you to your visit. 
  • The Clinic will provide the initial dressing supplies required.  You will be provided a list of supplies to purchase for ongoing dressing changes. 
  • If assistance with translation is required, bringing a family member or friend to translate is encouraged.  Island Health will provide translation services over the phone if required. 

After Your Visit 

  • A follow up appointment may or may not be required.  Please refer to the physician's specific discharge instructions pertaining to your procedure.
