Building Description
Marrion Village is operated by Baptist Housing Ministries Society and has 50 assisted living suites and 123 independent living suites.
The residence offers on-site management support in a caring, respectful atmosphere where all members of the staff team share a common philosophy of service excellence to residents.
Building Amenities
Marrion Village is blessed with many and varying amenities which make living here enjoyable.
From movie nights, with large screen projection to summer BBQs outside, there is always lots to do. There is a large library and four computers with internet access available for resident use. Marrion Village has three separate lounges, the largest able to accommodate groups of up to 100 people.
For your laundry needs, there are coin operated washers and dryers located in a common laundry area. A spa tub room is located on the main floor of building #8 (1980 Bee St). Spa tub bathing must be approved by Island Health as an approved service. The Assisted Living Nursing Team will book the spa tub use to ensure the tub is cleaned after each use by the housekeeping staff.
Facility-Specific Restrictions
Marrion Village has a scooter policy that prohibits residents from bringing scooters into their suites. Scooter parking spaces are provided in a separate area.
Neighbourhood/Community Amenities
Marrion Village is located in the heart of beautiful Oak Bay close to the intersection of Fort Street and Foul Bay Road. Just outside our doors are the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, a Save on Foods store, two banks, medical offices, pharmacies, Starbucks coffee, restaurants, parks, a walking track and bus service to downtown. We are also very close to the Royal Jubilee Hospital and Oak Bay Village.

Philosophy of Care
Marrion Village is open to all qualified seniors regardless of language, culture or religion.
At Baptist Housing we believe Spiritual Care is an important aspect of everyone’s life and we have a Spiritual Care provider on the team who is available to residents, their families and our team members.
The following is a sample of services they are available to provide upon request: personal visits, prayer, relationship reconciliation, grief support and assistance through to end-of-life issues. They may also provide Bible studies, Chapel services, memorials, prayer groups and hospital visitations.
Type of Accommodation
Marrion Village has 50 assisted living suites and one private-pay assisted living suite within two buildings. All suites have a separate bedroom and are equipped with a full kitchen. A small storage locker, located in the lower level, is available for no extra charge.
Cost
Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers:
- monthly rental accommodation
- hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, laundry, etc.
- personal care
- on-site emergency response system
Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as a part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.
Special Recreational Opportunities
The following is a sampling of activities and events that take place at Marrion Village, some on a regular basis, and others occasionally:
Afternoon teas, BBQs, Bible Study, Bingo, birthday teas, bus trips, chair fitness, chapel night, craft sales, games afternoon, health seminars, movie nights, multicultural events, music therapy, music concerts, Pet Therapy, safety seminars, sing-a-longs, special dinners, travelogues and yard sales.
Accessibility
All buildings at Marrion Village are easily accessible. Assisted living suites are designed with wide suite entry and interior doors to make moving around in a wheelchair very easy.
Motorized Scooter Policy
Scooters are to be parked in designated scooter parking areas only. They are not to be stored in your suite.
Pet Policy
Residents are not permitted to have pets. Pets of family members are welcome to visit you for a short period of time in accordance with our pet policy. We also have a pet therapy program from time to time, where well-mannered dogs and cats come to pay us a visit.
Smoking Policy
As of January 2007, all buildings at Marrion Village are non-smoking. This includes all common areas as well as all suites. All residents moving into Marrion Village after this date are prohibited from smoking in their suites, common areas or anywhere on the grounds of Marrion Village.
Safety/Security Features
- a keyless fob system that provides extra security for all the entrances to the buildings
- 13 security cameras on the premises with digital video recording for your safety
- Personal Care staff for Assisted Living residents are on site 24-hours a day to respond to lifeline medical emergencies
- building emergency staff are available 24-hours a day every day of the week to respond to any building emergencies
Any Other Amenities
If you like to get your hands dirty, we have eight large garden plots available as well as a greenhouse for flowers and/or veggies.
