This time two years ago, a new respiratory virus was detected which soon spread across the globe, causing unprecedented changes to our everyday lives. COVID-19 continues to impact us, as does the toxic drug poisoning crisis which has now stretched into its sixth year.
Island Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the second floor at Amica Douglas House long-term care home in Victoria. Two staff members at the site have tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, no residents are experiencing symptoms and the outbreak declaration is limited to the second floor. Communication with residents, families and staff is underway.

An assessment, education and support service for people with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) symptoms has been created within Cowichan’s Community Health Services (CHS) division. The COPD team consists of a registered respiratory therapist, pharmacist and behavioral health clinician, with access to the larger CHS team.
