COVID-19 Outpatient Treatment

Island Health provides COVID-19 assessment and treatment for vulnerable patients in the community who have early, mild to moderate COVID-19 and cannot take Paxlovid.

For information about eligibility and available treatment options, visit the BCCDC COVID-19 Treatments webpage.

The Outpatient COVID-19 Therapeutics Clinic (OCTC) closed on June 19, 2026.

Physicians who would like to discuss COVID-19 treatment for a patient should contact the physician on service with the Outpatient Anti-Microbial Therapy Clinic (OPAT) at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH). Consult requests are accepted by phone only.

Please note that this is not the on-call Infectious Diseases physician. Physicians can call the RJH switchboard and ask to be connected to OPAT. Fax referrals are no longer accepted.

If a patient needs an infusion at a location other than RJH, OPAT will coordinate treatment at another site.
