Geriatric Psychiatry

Geriatric psychiatrists (specialists in mental health for older adults) work with patients and GSS clinicians (nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and social workers) to support adults over 75 who have psychiatric conditions, complex neurological symptoms, challenging behaviors, and/or substance use issues. They also care for people with progressive brain disorders such as early-onset Alzheimer’s or frontotemporal dementia.

Geriatric psychiatry programs are based in Campbell River, Comox Valley, Port Alberni, Cowichan, Nanaimo and Victoria.
