Island Health declares COVID-19 outbreak over at Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum assisted living facility in Duncan

Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum assisted living facility in Duncan.

Island Health declared an outbreak at Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum assisted living facility on January 7, 2021, after one staff member tested positive for COVID-19. No other staff or resident cases were identified related to this outbreak.

The facility is now open to new admissions and transfers. Essential and social visitations can now resume at the facility. 

Ts’i’ts’uwatul’ Lelum is owned and operated by M’akola Housing Society. During the outbreak, Island Health worked with leadership and staff at the facility to support steps to protect the health of residents and staff. All involved are to be commended for their efforts and ensuring no residents contracted COVID-19 related to this outbreak.

Island Health has implemented comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in long-term care, acute care, assisted living and independent living facilities.
