COVID-19 outbreak over at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital

Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH).

With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in acute sites, there are no longer any COVID-19 cases related to this outbreak at the site.
Island Health declared an outbreak on the High Intensity Rehab Unit at NRGH on April 14. In total, six patients and one staff member tested positive related to this outbreak.

Upon declaring the outbreak, Island Health immediately implemented precautions, including enhanced cleaning, as well as contact tracing to protect the health of all staff, medical staff, students, and patients.

The High Intensity Rehab Unit at NRGH is now open to new admissions and transfers.

We want to acknowledge our staff and medical staff who provided excellent care to our patients under challenging circumstances, everyone involved in our COVID response, and our community for your ongoing support.
