When this service can help
This service may help if you have a diagnosis of an acquired brain injury that happened after birth and need support to:
- Rebuild or maintain movement, thinking, or daily living skills
- Stay independent at home and in the community
These services are voluntary, you can choose whether to take part. Services and programs vary between communities.
What to expect
If you use this service, you may get help with:
- Care based on your needs, goals, and daily challenges
- Help with strength, balance, memory, thinking, and daily routines
- Practical strategies and equipment to make daily activities easier
- Home visits and a home safety review
- Coordination with your family doctor or nurse practitioner
- Information and support for family members and caregivers
- Referral to brain injury-specific supported living sites including CONNECT, MacDonald House and family care homes if appropriate
Am I eligible?
You may be eligible for brain injury support if you:
- Are 19+
- Have a confirmed brain injury that happened after birth
- Live in the Island Health region
- Have limited or no coverage through programs such as ICBC, WorkSafeBC, or Veterans Affairs

- Brain Injury Program: Basic services are free. Call 250-519-5299 for details.

- South Island Regional Resources for Adults with Disabilities (RRAD): Services are free.
