Island Health has declared three additional long-term care outbreaks and updated the status of an existing outbreak.

New outbreaks:

Fir Park Village long-term care home in Port Alberni

Three resident cases have been identified related to this outbreak. The outbreak declaration is limited to the Blue and Yellow units at this time.

Fir Park Village is owned and operated by the Alberni-Clayoquot Continuing Care Society.

The Summit long-term care home in Victoria

Island Health has declared one outbreak over, while four additional long-term care outbreaks have been declared.

Island Health has declared COVID-19 outbreaks at five long-term care homes.

Aberdeen Hospital long-term care home in Victoria

Two staff members and three residents have tested positive for COVID-19. The outbreak declaration is only for the Lansdowne Unit at this time. Aberdeen Hospital long-term care home is owned and operated by Island Health.

Glenwarren Lodge long-term care home in Victoria

People in the Comox Valley will soon have access to a new long-term care facility that will provide 126 publicly-funded long-term and hospice care beds.

An administrator has been temporarily appointed by the Island Health Board of Directors to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Comox Valley Seniors Village.

Seniors in the Cowichan Valley will soon have improved access to long-term care with the addition of 80 new publicly funded beds in the community. Construction on The Hamlets at Duncan is underway.
