Victoria - Twice a week from spring to fall at a large garden overlooking the Blenkinsop Valley a small miracle occurs. A very diverse group of about 20 people gather together to work, talk, laugh, and learn to grow food for themselves and others in our community. The official name of the program is Feeding Ourselves and Others, but friends and family call it Serenity Farm.
Victoria - The Pandora Supervised Consumption Centre opens June 18, 2018. Island Health’s largest supervised consumption service will allow people to safely use drugs while offering on-site supports and services as well as referrals and access to treatment whenever clients are ready to begin a recovery journey.

DUNCAN – Island Health and community partners in the Cowichan Valley have increased safety efforts in response to concerns about the number of needles being improperly discarded throughout the community.
COURTENAY—As part of the Province’s response to the overdose emergency, AIDS Vancouver Island (AVI) and Island Health have implemented an overdose prevention site at 355 6th Street in Courtenay.
The Courtenay-based overdose prevention service began operating on March 27. The service is being operated by AVI with funding from Island Health. AVI is adding the overdose prevention service to existing services already in place at 355 6th Street, including a range of health and harm reduction services.
Harm reduction services help people who use unregulated substances lower their risk of harm, injury and death.
