There is a limited availability of overhead lifts.

Preparing for Your Visit

Take a tour of the facility you are attending. Ask questions about medications, billing, meals, visitations, and anything else that is on your mind.

You should also:

  • Be clear about pick up and drop off times.
  • Understand how billing works ahead of time.
  • Complete any paperwork before you arrive.
  • Cancel all community services for the duration of the stay. 
  • Label all client’s personal items (some locations have a labelling service).
  • Check your location’s medication procedure.
  • Be prepared to bring equipment you use at home such as walkers or custom items.
  • Provide an information sheet about the client with some details on what they like and how to support them.
  • Bring favourite photographs, blankets, and snacks to feel at home.
  • Bring books, crosswords, and crafts the client enjoys.

During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Influenza Protection Policy.

Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed:  "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution."

Motorized Scooter Policy

No outside scooters are permitted. Motorized wheelchairs are permitted. 

Pet Policy

Visiting pets are permitted in recognition of the benefit to the wellbeing of residents. Live-in pets are not permitted.

Smoking Policy

Kiwanis Village policy permits smoking of tobacco products or electric cigarettes by residents only in outdoor designated smoking areas. Visitors must smoke off-site.

Safety/Security Features

The exit doors are secured with keypads.

A “Roam Alert” bracelet may be available for clients who are at risk of wandering.

Any Other Amenities

Medications: All medications administered by staff. Please arrange medication delivery with staff.

Laundry service: Staff will launder the client’s clothes, but all clothing must be labelled prior to the client’s visit.
