The Comox Valley Nursing Centre is a service within Island Health’s Primary Health Care and Chronic Disease management portfolio and is located in Courtenay, British Columbia. We believe in partnerships between clients, family and health care professionals.

Health Connections Clinic 

Who we are:

What we offer:

  • Provides team-based Primary Care for people with complex medical and/or socio-economic needs (i.e. mental health, substance use, homelessness, poverty, chronic disease, chronic pain, Hep C, or HIV)
  • Opioid Agonist Treatment, addiction care, connection to services, PreP
  • Our caring staff take the time to talk to you about your health needs and work with you to address your health priorities.

Individuals can self refer or Island Health referrals through Central Intake.

Positive Wellness North Island (Satellite Service for the Comox Valley)

Who we are:

What we offer:

  • Education, support and access to treatment for people living with viral hepatitis and/or HIV
  • Support to access PrEP
  • Community education
  • Link to other community resources

Chronic Disease and Chronic Pain Management Program

Who we are:

What we offer:

  • Individual and group services supporting chronic disease and chronic pain management
  • Making sense of pain program
  • Making peace with sleep program
  • Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for chronic pain
  • Chronic pain support group
  • Individual service plans

North Island Gender Care Clinic

Who we are:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Social Work
  • Speciality Medicine

What we offer:

  • Surgical care planning assessments and referrals for gender affirming surgeries
  • Hormone care planning assessment, hormone initiation and short-term follow-up
  • Pre & post-surgical care
  • Peer support
  • Virtual and in-person appointments. In-person appointments are located in Courtenay and Campbell River, and virtually through BC Virtual Visit

Patients (19+ and live North of Bowser) can self-refer (by phone or email) or be referred by primary care provider.
