People attending Victoria General Hospital should be aware of construction work to expand parking.
Construction work starts today to create 57 new public parking spaces on the northwest side of the hospital.
The construction work will be phased, affecting approximately 15 spaces at a time, during which these spaces will not be available. There will be signage and traffic controllers when needed to help guide traffic flow. Access to the main entrance and emergency department will not be affected.
Several trees will need to be removed. Island Health has completed the appropriate environmental assessments and will replant 23 trees as part of this project.
We recognize this work may be disruptive to patients, visitors and staff, and we apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause.
While this work takes place, patients and visitors should allow for extra time to find parking or arrange drop-off and pick-up for appointments and visits where possible.
Island Health appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while we work to expand our parking capacity at the hospital. The work is expected to be completed in late fall.
