People attending Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) this summer should be aware of construction disruptions in the parkade.
Starting on July 13, the parkade will undergo necessary maintenance work which will temporarily impact access to staff parking located on the fourth and fifth levels.
Maintenance work will also occur on ramps on all levels. At times, access to parking on levels above the ramp being worked on will be restricted. This includes public parking stalls on levels 1 through 3. To help reduce disruptions, most ramp work will take place on weekends.
This work is essential to maintain the safety and long-term use of the parkade for patients, staff and visitors. Island Health anticipates this phase of the work will be completed in the fall, with more work planned for next year.
Roadwork on Richmond Road, between Bay and Newton Streets, will also take place this summer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. This work is scheduled to take several months to complete and will lead to traffic delays.
As a result of the parkade work and the road construction, people attending RJH this summer are asked to allow for extra time to find parking or arrange drop-off and pick-up, when possible.
Island Health recognizes this work may be disruptive to staff and to patients and visitors, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We thank staff, patients and visitors for their patience and understanding while this important work is completed.
