Community conversations coming for Cowichan Valley Wellness and Recovery Centre

The ongoing toxic drug poisoning crisis is causing hundreds of people in the Cowichan Valley to overdose each year. Sadly, dozens do not survive.

The Cowichan Valley Wellness and Recovery Centre, which will be located at 5878 York Road in North Cowichan, will offer a holistic approach to mental health and substance use through prevention, treatment, and recovery services.

The Centre will be operated by Island Health in partnership with Lookout Housing and Health Society. Together, these organizations will provide vital services to support clients and the surrounding neighbourhood.

Island Health recognizes the community’s interest in continued dialogue about the Cowichan Wellness and Recovery Centre and the services it will provide to vulnerable people living with mental health and substance use challenges. Island Health, in partnership with Lookout, has scheduled three Community Conversation sessions to discuss the Centre with interested members of the community:

               Session 1:  Wednesday May 19 from 11:30am – 12:30pm
               Session 2:  Wednesday May 19 from 5:30pm – 6:30pm
               Session 3:  Thursday May 29 from 5:30pm – 6:30pm

In compliance with COVID guidelines, all Community Conversation sessions will be held virtually. To register, please visit: www.islandhealth.ca/cowichan-wellness-recovery-centre. Note: The same information will be presented at each session.
