Island Health COVID-19 outbreak updates

Island Health has declared five outbreaks over. No new outbreaks have been declared.

Outbreaks declared over:

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital – 4th floor General Medicine unit.

In total, 26 patient cases were attributed to this outbreak. The outbreak remained limited to the 4th floor General Medicine unit.

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital – 5th floor General Medicine unit.

In total, 18 patient cases were attributed to this outbreak. The outbreak remained limited to the 5th floor General Medicine unit.

Chemainus Health Care Centre long-term care home – Harbour Side unit

In total, five resident cases were attributed to this outbreak. The outbreak remained limited to the Harbour Side unit.

Chemainus Health Care Centre long-term care home is owned and operated by Island Health.

Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens long-term care home in Port Alberni

In total, 11 resident cases and two staff cases were attributed to this outbreak.

Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens is owned and operated by West Coast Native Health Care Society.

Berwick on the Lake long-term care home in Nanaimo

In total, 11 resident cases and one staff case were attributed to this outbreak.

Berwick on the Lake is owned and operated by Berwick Retirement Communities.

Staff are to be commended for continuing to deliver high quality, compassionate care while diligently following outbreak protocols. Outbreak protocols will now be ended at the sites. Enhanced infection prevention and control measures and monitoring of residents, patients and staff for symptoms will continue.
