One additional COVID-19 case linked to Saanich Peninsula Hospital outbreak

Island Health has confirmed one additional staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, related to the outbreak at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. To date, there have been ten staff members and ten patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. 

The outbreak was declared on December 1 and no new sources of transmission have been identified. Testing continues to confirm that the outbreak is limited to acute care areas of the hospital. Patients in the acute care areas continue to be closely monitored for symptoms and patient and staff testing continues. 

The Saanich Peninsula Hospital laboratory service outpatient collections have temporarily moved to our Keating Cross Road lab, located at 2140A Keating Cross Road. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

It is important to note that other outpatient services, including medical imaging and day surgery, are open and we want people to know that it is safe to access these services. 

The hospital remains closed to acute admissions. The emergency department is open and ready to provide safe care. If you require emergency care, please visit the emergency room immediately.
