About

Established in 1982, Eldercare Foundation works to improve the quality of life for seniors on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. We partner with Island Health, donors, and community organizations to fund programs that support aging in place, enhance long-term care, and advance education for caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Thanks to donor support, Eldercare funds specialized equipment, therapy programs, and meaningful enhancements that improve everyday life for long-term care residents. From music therapy and exercise programs to gardens, memory care, and celebration events, we aim to create safe, enriching environments for those in care.

We also help older adults stay safe, connected, and cared for at home. Eldercare funds a range of local programs including adult day programs, community bathing programs and the Piercy Respite Hotel.

Eldercare Foundation supports research, education, and public learning that helps improve seniors’ care—on Vancouver Island and beyond. From bursaries and awards to long-term research collaborations, these initiatives aim to strengthen elder care across the province. We offer free education events at the Yakimovich Wellness Centre with content specialized for seniors, caregivers and professionals working with older adults.
