During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Influenza Protection Policy.
Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution."
There are street meters, paid parking lots, and options for special permits and parking exemptions. For more parking information, visit the Island Health Parking Services webpage.
Overhead lifts are not available.
Take BC Transit #50 bus
Take a tour of the facility you are attending. Ask questions about medications, billing, meals, visitations, and anything else that is on your mind.
You should also:
- Be clear about pick up and drop off times.
- Understand how billing works ahead of time.
- Complete any paperwork before you arrive.
- Cancel all community services for the duration of the stay.
- Label all client’s personal items (some locations have a labelling service).
- Check your location’s medication procedure.
- Be prepared to bring equipment you use at home such as walkers or custom items.
- Provide an information sheet about the client with some details on what they like and how to support them.
- Bring favourite photographs, blankets, and snacks to feel at home.
- Bring books, crosswords, and crafts the client enjoys.
Power wheelchairs are not permitted. Standard wheelchairs can be provided.

Smoking is only permitted if the client is able to independently smoke in the designated smoking area.
The exit doors are secured with keypads.
Laundry Service: Staff will launder the client’s clothes, but all clothing must be labelled prior to the client’s visit.
Medications: The facility dispenses all medications. Medications administered by facility staff.
