Arrowsmith Lodge was built in 2005. This two-story building offers ground level entry, with resident rooms on the main floor with the kitchen, maintenance, and laundry service located on the lower level. All resident rooms are private. The lodge is surrounded with trees, grass, a small orchard and numerous plants. The building has wide hallways and handrails to assist the elders.

Arrowsmith Lodge is located next door to a senior’s home and numerous apartments, many with seniors. The downtown of Parksville is a short distance away and offers residents access to restaurants, banking, recreational areas, and pharmacies services.
English is the primary language spoken. No religious affiliations, multi-denominational.

Model of Medical Care/Physician Organization
Arrowsmith Lodge operates a TORCH (Towards Optimal Residential Care Health) Model / Residential Care Initiative (RCI) model for medical care. Residents are assigned to a physician who attends the facility weekly and works in a shared care model, working closely with other TORCH / RCI physicians and facility health care staff.

Residents pay up to 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.
At Arrowsmith Lodge we provide a wide range of activities from live music, outings, celebrations, exercises and theme days (Halloween Parties, PJ days, Western Days).
Accessible parking available. The buidling is accessible from the ground level.
There is a bus stop located on the front street. Handy-dart will pick up right outside the door.
No motorized scooters allowed.
There are resident pets at Arrowsmith Lodge – three cats, budgies, finches and two fish tanks. Pets are welcome to come as visitors; pets must be well mannered and leashed at all times, with up to date vaccinations. Pets are not allowed in areas where food is prepared or served.
Arrowsmith Lodge has designated smoking areas on the grounds for elders. Due to space, only three smoking elders can be accommodated at one time. All elders who smoke must have smoking risk assessment completed. Smoking is not allowed by the staff on site.

Church services are offered on a weekly basis. Multiple churches provide service.
Sensory Therapy room available for elders, volunteers and family use. There is a beautiful orchard on the property with a gazebo available for use by families and elders. There is a Bistro on the property that families are welcome to take a loved one to eat at; advance notice is requested.
Parking is free but limited.
As this is home to our residents, visiting hours are open to family and friends.

During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Influenza Protection Policy.
Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed: "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”
