How will my family benefit from this program?

The Shapedown BC program builds on the strength of the family.  We support families to make healthy eating and active lifestyle changes.  Children and teens will see improved self-esteem and peer relationships and adopt healthier habits.  Parents will feel better about the Their parenting and about their child.  The whole family can become healthier and closer.

What is involved?

This is a free 10-12 week program with two group sessions per week.  Families participate in one 2-hour evening session that includes 30 minutes of activity and a 1-hour active, weekend session.  We also provide additional  financial support upon completion of the program to help your family maintain the lifestyle changes you have started.  This may include registration for classes, lessons or recreational passes.

This program is for

  • Children between 6-17 years of age
  • Children with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 97%*
  • Families ready to make changes and attend on a regular basis

*children with BMI between 85-97% will be considered if other medical conditions are present
