Aboriginal Health Initiative Plan (AHIP)

The Aboriginal Health Initiative Program (AHIP) supports community-based projects in Aboriginal communities by administering funds through the Aboriginal Health Program of Island Health.

All funding is applied for through the request for proposals (RFP), which is mailed to First Nations, Metis Organizations and Friendship Centres on Vancouver Island. These AHIP funds may be accessed for projects that support the following six strategic themes:

  • enhance relationships and collaboration
  • enhance access and capacity
  • strengthen Cultural Safety and Humility
  • be innovative
  • be accountable
  • work with others to address the social determinants of health
