Island Health's Cultural Safety Online Course

Public Access Now Avaliable

The online Cultural Safety Training, “For the Next Seven Generations – for the Children”, developed by Island Health’s Aboriginal Health Program is now available for the public.

The course is a 3-4 hour, self-paced, non-facilitated course and is intended to improve health outcomes for present and future generations of Aboriginal peoples living on Vancouver Island. The module provides an opportunity for healthcare providers to strengthen their cultural awareness and to enhance their ability to establish culturally safe, respectful engagements and environments.

Important: There may be aspects of this on-line training that bring up uncomfortable feelings about Canada’s collective history and the current social realities facing many Aboriginal Peoples. We encourage all learners, if needed, to arrange appropriate support before commencing this module.
