There are so many new opportunities to volunteer with Island Health. 

Island Health is pleased to offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. Most volunteer roles fit within the categories listed below (click titles for more information). Please be aware that not all opportunities are available at all sites.

Note the following requirements to volunteer: 

  • We require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • We ask that you commit to a regular volunteer shift
    • typically one two-four hour shift per week and we prefer a minimum six months commitment
  • We will ask you to complete a Criminal Records Check through the Ministry of Justice, including a vulnerable sector check (instructions will be provided)
  • If accepted, we will ask you to complete online training using our eLearning Modules (two-four hours)
  • We ask that you have spoken English (ESL Level 6 preferred)
  • We ask that you agree to receive an annual flu vaccine or wear a mask during flu season (typically December to April) each year
