Computed Tomography (CT Scan)

Computed Tomography (CT Scan)

Computed Tomography (CT), also known as CAT scan, is a medical imaging test that employs special x-ray equipment along with computers to generate a volumetric cross-sectional image of the inside of the body.

During the procedure, the patient is asked to lie still on a narrow examination table that slides in and out of the CT scanner. Electronic x-ray detectors and the x-ray tube rotate around the patient and collect cross-sectional images that are then sent to the computer for further processing.
