What is Respite Care?

Respite care provides specialized support to clients, giving caregivers a temporary break from their responsibilities, while ensuring quality care for their loved ones in a safe setting.

Respite gives clients the opportunity to participate in activities designed to promote stimulation, physical well-being, and social interaction. 

Types of Respite Care

Home support 

Home Support Services: Receive services in your home.

Community-based services

Adult Day Services: Day programs that offer therapeutic and recreational activities.
Facility Respite Care: Overnight short-term care in a licensed care facility. 

Cost of Respite Care

The amount you pay depends on the type of respite you need. Your case manager can provide more information.

How to Access Respite Care

Your Case Manager will help you access respite care. If you do not have a Case Manager, you can call Island Health Community Health Services for further information.
