Interim Vice President – Population Health & Chief Medical Health Officer
Dr. Murray Fyfe completed his medical training at the University of British Columbia in 1985 and further graduate and specialty training at McGill, and the Universities of Ottawa and Calgary. He has a Masters degree in Epidemiology and certification in Public Health and Preventive Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the UBC School of Population and Public Health.
Dr. Fyfe joined Island Health in 2004 as a Medical Health Officer working with a range of public health programs since that time. Prior to Island Health, he worked with the Health Canada Field Epidemiology Program and as a Physician Epidemiologist with the Communicable Disease Program at the BC Centre for Disease Control.
Dr. Fyfe has been a member or chair of a number of provincial committees in BC including Injury Prevention, Prevention and Health Promotion Policy, Population Health, and Communicable Diseases. He has supported post graduate medical education through membership in the UBC Public Health and Preventive Medicine Residency Training Program Committee as well as membership and vice chair of committees with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
